Abstract

Directive Speech Acts and Teacher Speaking Strategies in Indonesian Language Learning for Grade X MAN 3 Plus Skills Payakumbuh 

This study aims to: First, describe the forms of directive speech acts used by teachers in Indonesian language learning, especially negotiation texts in class X MAN 3 Plus Skills Payakumbuh. Second, describe the forms of speaking strategies used by teachers in Indonesian language learning in class X MAN 3 Plus Skills Payakumbuh. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods that provide an overview and explain the research results in depth. Qualitative research produces descriptive data in the form of speech, writing, and behavior of individuals observed. Data collected in this method include observations, documentation in the form of photos, videos, audiovisuals, document analysis, and field notes. The results of this study are: First, from the directive speech acts of ordering, requesting, suggesting, begging, and challenging, the most dominant speech act used is the directive speech act of ordering as many as 86 utterances and the least used speech act is the directive speech act of suggesting, namely 2 utterances. Second, the dominant speaking strategy used by teachers in learning Indonesian, especially negotiation texts in class X MAN 3 Plus Skills Payakumbuh, is the strategy of Speaking Frankly Without Small Talk (BTTB), found as many as 76 data. Based on the five divisions of strategies used in this study, three strategies were found used by teachers in the learning process, namely the strategy of Speaking Frankly Without Small Talk (BTTB), Speaking Frankly With Positive Politeness (BTDKP), and Speaking Frankly With Negative Politeness (BTDKN). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implications of teachers in social competence have advantages and disadvantages. The implications of teachers' speech and speaking strategies are very large in a positive and productive learning process for students. Through effective communication, varied interactions, and showing concern, teachers can create a learning environment that supports student development, which ultimately has an impact on better learning outcomes.
