The Influence of Entrepreneurial Mindset and Psychological Resilience on Student Entrepreneurial Intention in Malaysia
The gap between entrepreneurial interest and the sustainability of entrepreneurship among Malaysian students remains relatively high, which is presumed to be influenced by inconsistencies in entrepreneurial mindset and underdeveloped psychological resilience. This study aims to analyze the effects of entrepreneurial mindset and psychological resilience on entrepreneurial intention among university students in Malaysia. Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and supported by the Entrepreneurial Mindset Profile and psychological resilience theory, this research employs a quantitative associative approach. Data were collected through standardized psychometric questionnaires using purposive sampling, involving a minimum of 170 undergraduate (Bachelor’s and Diploma IV) students from 11 states in Malaysia. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3), encompassing validity and reliability testing, descriptive analysis, and structural model evaluation. The results reveal that entrepreneurial mindset does not have a significant effect on entrepreneurial intention, whereas psychological resilience shows a positive and significant influence. This study contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by emphasizing psychological resilience as a key determinant of entrepreneurial intention among students in developing countries and offers practical implications for higher education institutions in designing entrepreneurship education programs that prioritize psychological capacity building.
