Abstract

The Effect of  the Audiovisual  Media-Assisted Project Based Learning Learning Model on the Biography Text Writing Skills of Class X Students of SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency

This study aims to find out and describe the biographical text writing skills of grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Timur before and after using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by audiovisual media, as well as analyzing the influence of the PjBL learning model assisted by audiovisual media on the biographical text writing skills of grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency. This research is motivated by the low skill of writing biographical texts in grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency. The research uses a quantitative approach with a pseudo-experimental method through a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study is all students of class X of SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Timur, with a research sample consisting of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class which each totals 28 students. The research instrument was in the form of a performance test for writing biographical texts which was assessed through three aspects, namely structure, content, and linguistic rules. Data analysis was carried out through normality tests, homogeneity tests and hypothesis tests. The results showed that the average score of students' biographical text writing skills in the experimental class was 76.14 with good qualifications, while the control class obtained an average of 56.96 with sufficient qualifications. The results of the hypothesis test showed that tcount = 6.54 > ttable = 1.67 at the level of 95%, This shows that there is a significant influence of the use of the PjBL model assisted by audiovisual media on the writing skills of biographical text writing of class X students of SMA Negeri 1V Koto Timur. Thus, this model is worthy of being used as an innovative learning alternative in Indonesian language subjects.
