THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SOLUTION FOCUSED BRIEF COUNSELING (SFBC) IN IMPROVING STUDENTS' SELF-CONFIDENCE IN RESPONDING TO LEARNING SITUATIONS AT STATE MIDDLE SCHOOL 106 JAKARTA
This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Solution-Focused Brief Counseling approach in improving the self-confidence of a student with slow learner characteristics at SMP Negeri 106 Jakarta. This approach emphasizes individuals’ strengths, potentials, and solutions rather than focusing on problems or limitations. The research employed a Single Subject Research method with an A-B-A design, consisting of baseline (A1), intervention (B), and post-intervention (A2) phases. Data were collected through observation sheets and pretest-posttest assessments focusing on self-confidence and social interaction indicators. The results showed a significant improvement in the student’s behavior and engagement. The observation score increased from 32 in the baseline phase to 60 in the post-intervention phase. Similarly, the pretest score improved from 2.5 to 4.1 in the posttest. The application of techniques such as the miracle question, scaling question, and exception finding helped the student recognize achievements, develop positive self-beliefs, and improve social interactions. It can be concluded that the Solution-Focused Brief Counseling approach is effective in enhancing self-confidence and social responsiveness of slow learner students through individualized counseling.
