Abstrak

The Effect Of Card Sort-Assisted Collaborative Learning Model On The Skills Of Writing Popular Scientific Articles Of Eighth-Grade Students

This study aims to describe three things, namely the level of writing skills of Popular Scientific Article texts of class VIII students of MTsN 6 Kota Padang Experimental Class and Control class, then the effect of the Collaborative Learning model Assisted by Card Sort (Random Card) on the writing skills of Popular Scientific Article texts of class VIII students of MTsN 6 Kota Padang. This type of research is quantitative with an experimental method, using a Quasi Experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study was all class VIII students of MTsN 6 Kota Padang in 2025-2026 totaling 447 people. The research sample amounted to 64 people determined by purposive sampling technique, two classes namely class VIII.12, and class VIII.14, each totaling 32 people. The research instrument used was the text of the writing performance of Popular Scientific Article texts. Data analysis uses the percentage formula, the arithmetic mean formula, the data analysis requirements test, the t test and the N-gain score calculation. The results of the study showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than the control class, after the application of the Collaborative Learning model assisted by Card Sort (Random Cards). The experimental class obtained an average of 90.63 with a Very Good (BS) qualification, while the control class obtained 77.60 with a Good (B) qualification. The results of the t-test proved that there was an influence, with a significant level calculation of 95% degrees of freedom (n1 + n2 – 2) = (32 + 32-2) = 62, the calculated t value > t table (5.01) > (2.00), so that H1 (alternative hypothesis). H1 is the influence of the use of the Collaborative Learning model assisted by Card Sort (Random Cards) on the skills of writing Popular Scientific Article texts.
