Abstract

The Influence of Soft Skills and Motivation on the Performance of Generation Z Employees in the Special Region of Jakarta

The increasingly competitive world of work, particularly in the Food & Beverage (F&B) sector, demands that employees possess adequate non-technical skills and work motivation in addition to technical skills. Generation Z, which dominates this sector, still faces various performance challenges, as reflected in the high rate of layoffs (PHK) in DKI Jakarta. This study aims to analyze the influence of soft skills and work motivation on the performance of Generation Z employees in the Food & Beverage sector in the Special Region of Jakarta. This study aims to analyze the influence of soft skills and work motivation on the performance of Generation Z employees in the Food & Beverage sector in the Special Region of Jakarta. This study uses an associative quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed online to 128 Generation Z employee respondents working in the Food & Beverage sector in DKI Jakarta. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression methods and hypothesis testing. The results show that soft skills and motivation have a positive and significant effect on the performance of Generation Z employees. These findings confirm that communication skills, teamwork, time management, and motivational encouragement play an important role in improving employee performance in the Food & Beverage sector. This study is expected to be a reference for companies in designing human resource development strategies to improve employee performance and reduce the risk of layoffs in DKI Jakarta
