Abstract

IMPLEMENTATION OF PAI LEARNING BASED ON DEEP LEARNING FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF AL-GAZALI AND JOHN DEWEY

Deep learning in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Negeri 6 Sudimoro uses several stages: activating existing knowledge, exploring the material through relevant case discussions, reflecting on Islamic values, and applying them to everyday life. This study aims to analyze the implementation of deep learning in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and examine it from the perspectives of Al-Ghazali and John Dewey. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observations of the learning process, in-depth interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers, the principal, and students, and analysis of various relevant documents. The results show that the deep learning approach increases students' active participation, their understanding of concepts, and the integration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects in PAI learning. This implementation aligns with Al-Ghazali's views on moral formation and self-improvement, as well as John Dewey's thoughts on reflective learning experiences and learning through practice. The main obstacles are lack of time and teacher preparedness. This study demonstrates that deep learning is an effective teaching approach to enrich PAI learning in a meaningful and transformative way.
